completely to you

Life is nuts. It is so crazy sometimes, that we cease to realize that it exists. We get so wrapped up in our own individual lives that life outside of that becomes no more than a vapor, or a whispered suggestion of what we used to know. It's like a bubble, a bubble of "me, and my life, and myself, and what I need." I mean, things get done like this, yeah. That's for sure.

But there's a problem.

After spending so much time going and going and going with our heads driven down into the ground like a plow, running through our life, not thinking about the life around us, we hit a brick wall.

everything stops.

everything stops, and we're left wondering. left stripped of everything we thought we knew, left raw and vulnerable, and empty.

utterly clueless.

clueless of our path. When we started down this path, we started slow, we were somewhere familiar. We were home. We knew where we were. Then, after some time went on, we put our heads down. We got so focused on running a race, and winning the race, that we didn't even realize where we were running to, until all of a sudden, when we hit that wall... we look up and.. we're lost.

We don't even recognize where we are. Never seen it before. Not once. Never did we expect to arrive here. So then what?

Abraham Lincoln once said, "I have been many times upon my knees by the overwhelming conviction that I had nowhere else to go."

That's where I am.

We reach that place where we are lost, confused, and have no idea where to go, which way to start, what to do, NOTHING. completely, utterly, totally lost. lost without even the faintest wish of knowing where to go.

This is when we fall. Not into "darkness", no. Not falling to get hurt, no. but falling on our knees because, really, that's the only place that's left. Of course, I can ask, how did I not think of this any sooner? but there's no use questioning the past. What's past is past, what's future is future, and what's now is now.

and now,

I am on my knees.

"Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders. Let me walk upon the waters, wherever you would call me. Take me deeper than my feet have ever wandered, my faith will be made stronger, in the presence of my savior. So I will call upon your name, and keep my eyes above the waves, when oceans rise my soul will rest in your embrace, for I am yours, and you are mine."

So,

here we are.

on our knees,

with arms high and heart abandoned.

with nowhere else to go.

Lord? we surrender completely to you.
