an entirely new take on things

One time, I got a fortune in a fortune cookie that said, "You don't have to be perfect to fulfill your dreams." At first, I was all like, "Wow! That's so true, because we can never be perfect."

However.

What if we redefine perfection?

Why is it that perfection is something that everyone seems to strive for?

Why is perfection something that is seen as impossible to achieve?

I think that we are perfect.

Not perfect in the sense that we do no wrong, for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. We are perfect in the sense that God made us. He made us perfectly and wonderfully. God did not make any mistakes in making us. He did not make a mistake when making you.
and then, look again at that verse I mentioned before: We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.

So we do sin. we do mess up. God didn't make a mistake in making me, but I for sure make mistakes every single day. so how can I be perfect?

well, that's where the love of God comes in. God loves us soooo much, that He could not STAND seeing any flaw in us. He could not stand seeing us fail. So much so, so much love, that He sent His only son to take our flaw as His own. To take our failures and our mistakes, and pay for all of them.

This love... is where we find our perfection.

So, we will sin. Of course. But I do not think that's where our worth is found.

I think that maybe possibly our worth is unfathomable to anyone born into this world, because we were worth so much to God that He let His own son die.

He made us. Fearfully and wonderfully. He made us. With no mistakes. Every piece of every one of us is intentional. He made us flawless.

So our perfection can never be found in earthly things... stop chasing. Our worth is defined by the unconditional, earthshaking, never-changing, love of Christ.

isn't that great?
